As a Director my role spans many areas. As a Research Director, I am responsible for design and execution of projects, and additionally, I tend to look after all issues related to personnel, which can include training and development. However, the most important role is in directing the business, ensuring we are growing in the right way and building on our solid roots.
What is the best thing about working at B2B International?
The people I work with and the clients I work for. However, one thing I have always loved about working at B2B International is the freedom to develop yourself, your colleagues and the business overall. There is room for creativity here, which is important to me.
What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Clementine Paddleford’s advice, dating back from the 1920s, is the best, for a woman particularly – “never grow a wishbone, daughter, where your backbone ought to be.” My mother used to say this to me and I find myself saying it to my daughter.
What is your favourite place you have visited – and why?
There are so many, it would be hard to pick – it depends what sort of day I am having! From the hustle and bustle of Rome, my most favourite city; to the hilltop at the back of my house on a sunny day, looking out over the Manchester landscape as my dog bounds in the long grass.
What is your favourite book?
Captain Corelli’s Mandolin – it has everything: history, romance, sorrow, joy… but as a believer in the happy ever after, he came back!
What is your favourite pastime?
Again, there are so many, but hillwalking with my dog (especially in the snow) and baking have to be top of the list. I love to spend my Saturdays elbow deep in flour. There is nothing I love more than the smell of fresh baking in the house – happy times! Even better, when there are friends and family round to eat it!
